Unbelievable! 10% ballots in OH May 2 primaries flawed.

Wed Aug 16, 2006 at 07:29:23 AM PDT

Today's front page of the Cleveland Plain Dealer leads with a report, by the San Francisco-based Election Science Institute, that found 10% of the ballots in Cuyahoga County (Cleveland's largest county, also leans heavily Democratic), during the May 2 primary were "destroyed, blank, illegible, missing, taped together or otherwise compromised."

It gets better...

Why Dems keep losing and losing their issues in OH.

Tue Nov 08, 2005 at 08:30:55 PM PDT

I'm not a highly political person---at least not until about a year ago.  I have GWB and dKos to thank for helping me get my head out of my political ass.

I'm almost a life-long Ohioan---if you don't count the first 5yrs in a foreign country and the several years in a NYC college.  I consider myself an Ohioan, regrettably, and think that I have a good grasp on my fellow neighbors.  What I see is that most Ohioans don't have a good grasp on the political issues in our state.  Generally, Ohioans don't get heavily into politics and don't seek out issues and candidates' positions unless there is a big issue that plays out in the local media.  Even so, Ohioans seem to have very short political attention spans.  I've said it before, if it's not sports then they don't care!  Not even if it impacts their daily lives and jobs.

The reason that Dems keep losing and we keep losing issues that are important to us is because the OH Dems are woefully unorganised and inept.

OH Electors voting now--Live on CSPAN

Mon Dec 13, 2004 at 09:32:52 AM PDT

The Chairman just had the ballots sent out.  2 electors were absent, they chose 2 alternates to vote in their place.

What made me really mad was that the chairman cracked a joke, saying that there would be media conducting "exit polls" after the electors leave.  They all laughed.

Then, later, Blackwell got up and said that Auditor of State Betty Montgomery wanted to know if there would be a "paper trail" of the votes.  They all laughed again.

I am so pissed off.  It's bad enough to vote on false popular majority votes in OH, but it's another thing to demean people with jokes like that.

I just caught this link at DU, so just catching it now, but one part caught my attention when the player loaded and audio streamed---

Terrorists may have a new weapon to down airplanes.

Thu Dec 09, 2004 at 10:47:55 PM PDT

I know I can be wacky in my theories, but I've been telling my husband that it seems to me that there have been increased incidents of plane crashes for "undetermined" reasons, primarily with smaller aircraft.  Bearing that in mind, this caught my eye today.

Here's a wacky thought re: OH

Thu Dec 09, 2004 at 09:15:30 PM PDT

We've been hearing about all of the irregularities in OH, and have watched or heard about Congressman Conyer's hearing in which a list of the problems was detailed.

What if there's another way to approach this?

What if, instead of only going district by district detailing all of the many and various problems, how about we contrast those problematic areas against areas with few problems?  The result may very well show what we've already seen here (as shown in the graphs compiled by kossacks), that Republican majority areas were mostly hunky-dory whilst their next door Democratic areas may not have been.

Congressman Conyers is travelling to OH to hold field hearings.  I wonder the impact it would make if we have testimony after testimony of voting problems and then punctuate in between with testimony detailing voting as it should be---quick, easy, few challenges...wouldn't that help to paint a picture of overwhelming ease of voting in Republican areas as contrasted against the long lines, malfunctioning equipment, and challenges in the Democratic?

Bush the Antichrist?<--not the Biblical one

Wed Dec 08, 2004 at 07:14:41 PM PDT

This article from the Seattle Weekly, titled "Is Bush the Antichrist?" by Tim Appelo does a good job of explaining how Bush's policies and stated views are very much antithetical to Christ's teachings.

The article's secondary heading states "The Christian right and the Christian left are engaged in a debate over who 'owns' Jesus--and whether Dubya is a force for good or evil." Many grey boxes below, but this article just contained so much of relevance.

Bush is providing a handy excuse for the rest of the world, isn't he. Part of text of article, "Russia May Launch Anti-Terror Strikes"
